This new “evasi0n” jailbreak has been well worth the wait – especially for those bordering on a bit of iPhone ennui and those looking to take back control of their iPhones in order to break out of the restrictions Apple has set in place. A usable jailbreak opens up access to a world of unapproved applications, free and paid, through the alt app store known as Cydia, as well as a whole host of other controls and tweaks that can change the otherwise hard-coded defaults on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
So What is "iOS Jail-breaking" And Is It Worth The Risk ?
iOS jail-breaking is the process of removing the limitations on Apple devices running the iOS operating system through the use of software and hardware exploits – such devices include the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and second generation Apple TV. Jail-breaking permits root access to the iOS operating system, allowing the download of additional applications, extensions, and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple App Store. Jail-breaking is a form of privilege escalation,The name refers to breaking the device out of its "jail",which is a technical term used in Unix-style systems, for example in the term "FreeBSD jail". A jail-broken iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS can still use the App Store, iTunes, and other normal functions, such as making telephone calls.
Unlike rooting an Android device, jail-breaking is necessary if the user intends to run software not authorized by Apple.The Risks are minimal.But they include : data lost,firmware corrupt,stuck boot-loader,etc.
Why "Jail-break" ?
The main reason for jail breaking is being able to use third party and cracked apps.The iOS does not allow the installation of Third party apps/cracked apps by default,by jailbreak,you open up a door full of possibilities,and free apps. Jail-breaking also opens the possibility for using software to unofficially unlock carrier-locked iPhones/iPads so they can be used with other carriers.

How To Do It ? (source:evasi0n)
#1-Backup your device using iTunes (or iCloud) before using evasi0n. If something breaks, you'll always be able to recover your data.
#2 -Those who use backup passwords in iTunes must disable them for now. After doing so, iTunes makes a brand new backup. Please wait for that backup to complete before proceeding! Feel free to re-enable your backup password after jail-breaking.
#3 -Please disable the lock passcode of your iOS device before using evasi0n. It can cause issues.
#4 -Launch evasi0n on pc,mac, Linux, plug in your device, and click "Jailbreak". Just sit back and observe its progress. Watch for any steps you may be asked to perform.
#5 -Avoid all iOS and iTunes related tasks until evasi0n is complete. Why not just enjoy a brief break from the computer to stretch your legs ? (nah! i'm too lazy)
#6 -If the process gets stuck somewhere, it's safe to restart the program, reboot the device (if necessary by holding down Power and Home until it shuts down), and rerun the process.
